Neighbors voice concern about increased traffic
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A water main break on May Ave. is causing all types of problems, including increased traffic in one neighborhood.
People who live there say drivers are going too fast down their streets and are worried something bad could happen.
"Just go slow because you don't know what's right ahead of you, and see, that car isn't going 25 miles an hour," Suzi Steed, who lives in the neighborhood, said.
During the interview with Steed, we saw firsthand the concerns she is voicing as a car sped right by us on her street.
"I'm one of the thoroughfares right here, so the traffic's been really bad," Steed said.
The break has caused crews to shut down May Ave. between NW 69th and NW 72nd, resulting in many more drivers coming by Steed's house.
"Just slow it down a little bit, you'll get there and everybody will be fine," Steed said.
She says drivers are speeding, ignoring yield signs and rolling through stop signs.
"Just be careful when you're in an area that you're not familiar with," Steed said.
She understands the repair will take some time, but is asking everyone who drives through their neighborhood while this is going on to be cautious, especially as we head into the weekend.
"Keep an eye on all intersections," Steed said. "They have yield signs or stop signs you're not familiar with. So, just keep a heads up at all times and put the phones down, please."
There is no estimated timeline on when the break will be repaired.
This is a developing story.
