Flooding in the metro, apartment resident shocked as rainwater invades through walls
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Oklahoma storms can flood roads quickly, but also low lying homes and apartments.
Dianna Daugherty, who lives in an apartment in NW Oklahoma City, called News 4 as water came through the walls when Mother Nature opened the faucet.
"I was aware of the clouds. It was really dark up in the Edmond area where I was at the time. As I drove in here, the bottom opened up," said Daugherty.
Her bedroom took the biggest hit. Water covered almost half the room, with a large puddle right under her bed.
Daugherty's kitchen and dinning room area was also covered in water.
"This one was more water, A lot more water. Yeah. And usually I don't have to use all my towels, but this time I've had two," said Daugherty.
Multiple towels were placed through out the home as rain continued to rush in, but it was not enough to stop it.
Daugherty said she called maintenance for help.
"They came and tried to get the sump pumps going. Management did call me and they have called someone with a shop vac and they will be coming," said Daugherty.
She said this was not first time she has dealt with flooding inside, but it was a Saturday she did not plan for.
"I would have rather not have to worry about, you know, doing the laundry again, but hey, here we are," said Daugherty.
