Son arrested for elderly abuse and neglect, after his mother dies
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - 48-year-old Todd Taylor is being held at the Oklahoma County Detention Center after his 75-year-old mother, Arlinda Taylor, died. Police were called to a hospital, where Arlinda was admitted with extreme signs of abuse and neglect.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Arlinda lived with her son, Todd, and he was her caretaker.
The affidavit details her condition upon arrival at the hospital.
Nurses at the hospital told police the 75-year-old was "covered in feces" when she arrived at Southwest Medical Center.
They also say "the amount of feces in the victim's mouth led her to believe someone else shoved them into her mouth."
The affidavit also reports the nurses having to shave the victim's hair because of matting.
Her body continued to tell a story when nurses told police of more signs of neglect and abuse.
They told police Arlinda had bruising and signs of strangulation on her neck. They also reported that she had cuts and puncture wounds all over her body, including wounds consistent with hot water burns.
When the family arrived at the hospital, according to the affidavit, police were told her son was taking care of her.
Todd was arrested shortly after at a residence in Del City.
Detectives learned that Todd and his mother had been living in a hotel, and that the state of the room was shockingly bad.
Todd told police that the day Arlinda was taken to the hospital, he called his ex-wife to come over, and that's when they decided to call 911.
In body camera footage of the arrest, Todd was placed in handcuffs and did not say much.
In the affidavit, Todd told police that he was the only caretaker for his mother, and that his care for her slowed in the weeks leading up to her death. He claimed that she did not want him to clean her.
He is being held in the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a murder complaint. His bond is set to $10 million.
