Overflowing trash fixed at apartments after News 4 story
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Trash troubles at a metro apartment are now fixed after News 4 talked with neighbors last week. Now, they're thankful the eyesore and smelly mess is gone.
It was at the Wedgewood Village Apartments in Oklahoma City that neighbors expressed their concern last week.
"We have kids that are out here playing every day, they smell it, we smell it, we just wanna live in a nice clean area just like the surrounding area," said Taylor Messner, who lives at Wedgewood Apartments.
Bags and bags of trash were taking over the dumpsters, and neighbors said nothing was being done to clean them up.
"It's like I pay so much money here and I pay for the trash too...how come they can't get the trash out of here," said Lisa Walker, who called News 4 for help.
News 4 tried to get an answer from the complex, in an attempt to find out when the trash would be cleared, but never heard back.
Lisa Walker said she was fed up and called our "In Your Corner" line for help.
"I called News 4 to let them know because this is ridiculous, and it says be in your corner because it could've been a fire hazard and all these diseases that's going around and everything," said Walker.
A week later, there's a drastic change to the dumpsters.
"I really appreciate you, and I thank you very much," said Walker.
Now, Walker is just concerned that this will happen again.
"Cause it hasn't been stacked yet, so we'll see. I'm gonna keep an eye on it, and if it gets stacked again, and I'll contact you again, 'they did it again hahaha,'" said Walker.
Our crews could see the dumpsters starting to get pretty full again on Friday. In a few weeks, we'll have to see if it piles up to the extent it did before.
