Alleged driver that rammed ICE agent, receives federal charges
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Federal charges have now been filed against a man who police say rammed an ICE agent's car in Oklahoma City, hoping to get away.
In an arrest warrant filed with the federal court, ICE agents were looking for an individual in the area of Northwest 10th and MacArthur on Sunday morning.
The suspect goes by two different names, Julio Giron-Ramirez and Jose Fraga-Hernandez, and that has caused some confusion.
They say Ramirez matched the description as they watched him get into a car, but when they attempted to pull him over, things escalated.
Oklahoma City Police say a driver allegedly rammed an ICE agent's car, got out, and took off into a nearby home.
"The suspect had fled and forced his way into a home, and there were two victims inside the home," said Capt. Benjamin Weir, Oklahoma City Police.
The suspect eventually came out and was taken into custody.
Police identified him as 26-year-old Julio Giron-Ramirez.
In a statement to News 4, an ICE spokesperson confirmed Julio Giron-Ramirez was the suspect during the events on Sunday morning.
Julio Emelio Giron-Ramirez is a 26-year-old criminal alien from Guatemala who crashed his vehicle into an ICE officer’s car in an attempt to evade immigration officials. Giron-Ramirez showed zero regard for the condition of the federal law enforcement officers inside, but instead selfishly fled on foot.

The criminal alien was later apprehended and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on charges of assault against a federal officer, hit and run, first degree burglary and violations of the Immigration and Nationality Act. An immigration detainer has been filed. Thankfully, no officers where hurt, but this is yet another example of violence toward our brave officers, who are facing a 1,000 % increase in assaults over this time last year because of misinformation being spread by overzealous activists.
He was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center, but under a different name.
In a probable cause affidavit filed by the Oklahoma City Police, it details the events of Sunday, but they name 34-year-old Jose Fraga-Hernandez.
Hernandez is at the Oklahoma County Detention Center, facing charges from that day.
News 4 called the ICE Spokesperson to get some clarification on who allegedly rammed the car.
"We think this individual's name is, as I said before, Julio Emelio Giron-Ramirez, 26," said Dexter Henson, ICE Spokesperson. "That's just the individual we have in our system."
Henson also said he has an alias.
"He's also listed as Jose Fraga-Hernandez," said Henson. "This is the same individual. We're thinking this is the same individual."
Officials with the Oklahoma County Detention Center were not available to talk on camera. However, they told News 4 that when they booked the individual, they followed what the Oklahoma City Police put into the probable cause affidavit.
However, on their end, they do see he has an alias of Julio Giron-Ramirez.
The federal arrest warrant does note that the individual was booked under Jose Fraga-Hernandez "due to an as-of-yet-determined intake error."
We tried to talk with the police, but they were also not available to talk on camera. They told News 4 that they put Jose Fraga-Hernandez because that's what the individual told police their name was.
There is still no clarification on what the individual's actual name is. ICE does not have notes as to how they got the name Julio Giron-Ramirez.
ICE says that the next steps for the individual are for the charges to be imposed by the state, then the federal charges.
As for the question of deportation, that will come after both state and federal proceedings are completed, according to ICE.
