No charges for officers in deadly SW Oklahoma City officer-involved shooting
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — No charges were recommended against four Oklahoma City police officers involved in a June officer-involved shooting that left an armed 41-year-old man dead in southwest Oklahoma City.
On Monday, June 16, officers responded to a home in the 350 block of SW 17th Street at around 5:30 p.m. for a man, 41-year-old Eddie Hill, who was threatening suicide.
Upon the arrival of the four officers, as they approached the front door, Hill opened the door while armed with a knife. He was said to have charged at the officer who was closest to him before attempting to stab that officer. Hill was ordered to drop the knife, but he continued to charge at the officer before being shot.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
The four officers were placed on administrative leave as the shooting was being investigated.
On Wednesday, jurors with the Oklahoma County Grand Jury reviewed the use-of-force case and heard testimonies from two witnesses. 35 exhibits were reviewed, which included body-worn camera footage, photographs from the scene, and recorded interviews from the four officers.
It was determined by the jurors that no charges should be filed against the officers involved.
