USPS announces 2025 holiday mailing and shipping date kicking off Operation Santa
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - On Thursday, the U.S. Postal Service announced its suggested holiday shipping dates and information about the 2025 USPS Operation Santa Program ensuring your season runs without disruption.
When mailing out your package USPS says, for expected delivery before Dec. 25, the Postal Service recommends the following send-by dates:
2025 Holiday Shipping Dates for Contiguous U.S. (Lower 48 States)
- USPS Ground Advantage service: Dec. 17
- First-Class Mail: Dec. 17
- Priority Mail: Dec. 18
- Priority Mail Express: Dec. 20
2025 Holiday Shipping Dates for Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and U.S. Territories
- USPS Ground Advantage service: Dec. 16
- First-Class Mail: Dec. 17
- Priority Mail: Dec. 18
- Priority Mail Express: Dec. 20

The U.S. Postal Service has also kicked off the 2025 season of USPS Operation Santa has kicked off and children and families can now begin writing and sending letters to Santa Claus.
USPS officials say, the program, connects letter writers with generous individuals and organizations to help fulfill their holiday wishes.
Letters must be postmarked by Dec. 6 to be eligible for adoption and fulfillment. To learn program guidelines click here.
“For more than a century, USPS Operation Santa has brought communities together to make the holidays brighter,” said Sheila Holman, USPS marketing vice president. “Each year, we receive far more letters than we have adopters, and this year we want to change that - especially by encouraging participants to adopt family letters, which makes it possible to fulfill the wishes of an entire household at once.”
