Chrissy Teigen used Ozempic after miscarriage: 'My body was completely stuck'
(NewsNation) — Chrissy Teigen says she started using Ozempic after she struggled to lose weight following her miscarriage in 2020.
The cookbook author said on Thursday’s episode of her podcast “Self-Conscious" that she was in a “deep depression of seeing this pregnant belly with no baby in it.”
“With these new weight loss drugs, it feels like we've unleashed a genie in a bottle that's granting everyone the exact same wish,” Teigan told Johann Hari, author of “Magic Pill," according to People Magazine.
“And I'm not here to judge. I've done it. Most of my friends are on it,” the model added.
She said that her body was “completely stuck” after she lost her son Jack.
“I really let myself indulge when I was pregnant. So, when I had lost that baby at 20 weeks, I had probably gained an extra 40 pounds that I wasn't comfortable with.”
Chrissy Teigen, John Legend announce heartbreaking news
In September 2020, Teigen and her husband, John Legend, shared that they lost their newborn baby following complications from her pregnancy.
“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” she wrote at the time on Instagram. “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”
Chrissy Teigen: Results took time
Teigen said that the first year of taking the medicine, she didn’t see any results, but “all of a sudden, I was finally able to lose the weight that was so reminding me of the baby that I had lost.”
In an Instagram post promoting the episode, she wrote, "I was existing in a body that didn’t feel like mine, with absolutely nothing to celebrate — just the constant reminder that this body that once carried life for 20 weeks, was now just a… sad reminder."
