Norman turns out for OU-Texas watch party

NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) - It's the game day every Oklahoma and Texas fan circles in red each season, the Red River Rivalry.

Norman turns out for the OU-Texas watch party. (KFOR)

Many fans travel to watch the game in person, but other Sooner fans are at watch parties across the state, including in the heart of Sooner Nation.

"I've been an OU fan all my life," said Jerry Shelton, Sooner fan.

The Standard in Norman hosted a watch party for the OU-Texas matchup.

"We're feeling great. I mean, Texas sucks every year. I don't care who's the quarterback or who's throwing the ball or who's running the ball," said Davis Gammill, Sooner fan.

Cameron Brewer, co-owner of the Standard, says this is the first year they've done an official watch party.

"Especially in Norman, there are a lot of places for college students, and there are not as many places for the community side. We all want to gather and have fun and have a good time, that's kind of why we built this place," said Brewer.

It's a place that brought in fans from both teams.

"A little scared, little intimidated," said Bryan Jackson, Texas fan.

Sitting in a sea of Crimson and Cream is Jackson, a lone Longhorn fan cheering on his team, too.

"So I've been a Longhorns fan all my life," said Jackson. "Especially in Norman as a Texas fan to dress in burnt orange, absolutely. Like I'm going to be with all my friends and embarrass the heck out of them in their own community. Couldn't be better."

OU lost to Texas 6-23, and even though they did not take home the golden hat, the fans still cheer on.

OU hits the road next weekend to take on South Carolina.
