Earn $1K to eat Thanksgiving pies — here's how

(NEXSTAR) -- Got a sweet tooth? Here's a chance to put your sugar highs to good use, and earn $1,000 in the process.

Personal finance outlet FinanceBuzz is offering one lucky applicant the opportunity to become its official “Chief Pie Correspondent" and taste-test holiday pies from across the U.S. Here's how it works.

The "CPC" will shop for and taste test 3-5 pies from multiple groceries stores, including Costco, Trader Joe's, Walmart, Target, Whole Foods and others. Tasters will write detailed reviews of each pie they test, photograph each pie, and rate the pies — information FinanceBuzz will use for a future article.

"Unfortunately, there are a lot of pies out there that are more fake-y than flaky. We need help figuring out which grocery store pies are a crust above, and which just don't pass custard," write FinanceBuzz's Chris Lewis.

A few categories the CPC will grade include best pumpkin pie, best apple pie, best pie at each store, and best overall pie. The selected applicant will receive $500 to cover costs, in addition to $1,000 for completing the assignment, says FinanceBuzz.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and U.S.-based.

Applications are now open and will close at 11:59 p.m. EST on Nov. 4. FinanceBuzz says the chosen candidate will be notified the next day. The CPC will have until late November to do their pie research and testing.
