ALVA, Okla. (KFOR) — Police have released bodycam video of a deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred in Alva early Monday morning.
According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the Woods County Sheriff's Office, alongside the Alva Police Department, responded to a welfare check near North Second Street and Mill Street after receiving a 911 call. When officers arrived, contact was made with 26-year-old Jalin Scott Willyard.
Police say that when speaking to Willyard, he displayed a firearm and pointed the weapon towards officers, resulting in the shooting. Willyard was pronounced dead at the scene.
OSBI says the investigation is ongoing at this time.
An attorney for the Alva police officer involved in the shooting provided the following statement to News 4 on Thursday.
Our firm represents the officer involved in the officer involved shooting that ocured on the morning of November 3, 2025, in Alva, Oklahoma. Our client acted within the laws of the State of Oklahoma, within standard law enforcement training principles, and in compliance with department policy to protect himself and other officers when the deceased brandished a weapon and pointed it towards officers as the video clearly shows. The officer gave multiple commands to drop his gun, which the subject refused resulting in the officer firing in defense of himself and the other officers on scene. This is a tragedy for all concerned our thoughts are with all those involved.
