Officer-Involved shooting leaves one dead and an officer wounded in Lafayette
A massive police presence tonight in Lafayette as local police, parish deputies and state police officers are investigating a deadly officer involved shooting.
The Cypress Bend Townhouses at the corner of Kaliste Saloom and Locksley Drive are housing well over a dozen of law enforcement vehicles, and multiple officers are surrounding the property.
The scene was still active as of 10 p.m. more than four hours after neighbors say they heard at least 6 or 7 gunshots.
State Police still on scene to process the body.
The officer involved in the shooting was transported to a local hospital.
We can expect him to be put on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
No names have been released.
UPDATE 2: Lafayette Police have confirmed that one of the officers responding to a disturbance call Monday night at the Cypress Bend Townhomes on Kaliste Saloom Road, was injured.
The officer’s condition remains unknown.

Lafayette Police has confirmed with KLFY no officer death.
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) Lafayette Police have confirmed with News 10 that they are responding to an officer- involved shooting on Kaliste Saloom Road near its intersection with Locksley Drive.
Public Information Officer Corporal Bridgette Dugas said the shooting happened just after 6 p.m.
Dugas said police were responding to a disturbance.
We have confirmed that the shooting occurred at the Cypress Bend Townhomes.
State Police has confirmed that they have been called to assist in the investigation.
