Lafayette Police release new details in early morning deadly shooting
UPDATE: A man found dead Wednesday morning following a shooting at a home in the 100 block of S. Refinery has been identified by Lafayette Police.
The victim, 20-year-old Markeylan Edmond of Lafayette, was shot in the upper torso, police said.
42-year-old Johnathan Bargeman of Lafayette was on scene when officers arrived, and during an interview told police that he had been in a verbal altercation with the victim.
Police say when the altercation turned violent, Bargeman allegedly shot Edmond.
He was charged with 2nd Degree Murder and felon in possession of a firearm.
Police say Bargeman was then transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and booked with no bond.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Lafayette police are investigating a murder in the 100 block of South Refinery Street off of E. Pinhook Road.
Responding officers found a man dead in the middle of the roadway at about 6 a.m.
