UPDATE: Fatal car crash on New Year's Eve claims the life of a Eunice civil clerk
A Eunice civil clerk is dead after a fatal car crash on New Year’s Eve.
UPDATE, 1/2/22, 12:13 p.m.: News 10 spoke to Eunice City Marshal Terry Darbonne.
Darbonne says that Babineaux-Ardoin was an employee of the Eunice City Court and the Marshal’s Office work hand in hand with the courts.
“I have personally worked with her for approximately 20 years, and she was just a great person with a great personality that if you had a problem or whatever she was just one you could turn to. I just walk in her office and she'll put a smile on your face,” says Darbonne.
“The smaller your office is the more you become family. So, we have lost someone in our family.”
According to Darbonne, Babineaux-Ardoin had a son that is a deputy of Darbonne, and says, “We are a close-knit office personnel working on a daily basis. We see each other every day all day long. So, it really hurts.”
Darbonne says she is leaving behind a grieving family and it’s a difficult time for everyone.
“We're just asking the people to pray for us, not only the Eunice City Court, Marshal's Office but the families of everybody involved in this incident,” concludes Marshal Darbonne.
Funeral services for Katina Babineaux-Ardoin will be Wednesday, Jan. 5th starting at 8:00 a.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home in Eunice with visitation, followed by a rosary at 11:00 a.m. The funeral mass begins at 2:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile, followed by the burial at the St. Augustine Cemetery.
The obituary can be found on the Quirk & Son Funeral Home website.
