Local musicians nominated for Grammy award

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- The 2024 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles airing this Sunday night right here on KLFY News 10.
We'll be spotlighting a handful of Acadiana musicians that are currently nominated in the regional roots category.
Today we'll be featuring zydeco musician Dwayne Dopsie and his band The Zydeco Hellraisers nominated now for their second Grammy.
Dopsie is part of one of the most famous families in zydeco and carrying on the legacy of his father Rockin Dopsie Senior, something Dwayne Dopsie strives to do each and everytime he picks up his accordion.
"I'm fifty percent me, fifty percent of my father. Everything I have today, from a talent to everything I owe it to him, because he showed me how to do it. It's a blessing to be apart of his legacy, its a blessing to be apart of his family, you know because talent wise, my father was someone who if you did it he was going to push you," said Dopsie.

Dopsie one of three Acadiana bands receiving a nomination in the regional roots category. The other two bands include the Lost Bayou Ramblers, and Buckwheat Zydeco Junior.
