An organized in-person phone blitz was put together to demand more transparency in the case of the 11-year-old out of Iberia Parish who was incarcerated for murder charges.

IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- An organized in-person phone blitz was put together to demand more transparency in the case of the 11-year-old out of Iberia Parish who was incarcerated for murder charges.

A New Chapter Push, The Village 337, S2ITE, FFLIC, Evolve, and Vote came together to repeatedly call Iberia Parish Government agencies for answers on why the 11-year-old is still being held in the detention center following the arrest of her mother and 15-year-old brother. The three are being charged in connection to the murder of Kameran Bedsole.

Devon Norman with The Village 337 said,

"That's really all our point is today is to find out specifically why this 11-year-old child is still in jail or is still in custody at least," said Norman.

Community members like Thomas Maaele were invited to join the blitz to get answers.

"We keep calling people and people keep pushing us to other people to call. They can't talk about it. Well, who knows? If you can't talk about (then) who can talk about it," said Maaele.

According to Chad Landry with FFLIC, they were notified of a gag order as the reason for the lack of answers. Landry says they just want their voices heard for the child.

"We want them to know that this this young kid is not alone. That she will not be alone, and we will be here with her until the end of this in support of even after," said Landry.

News 10 reached out to the district attorney's office for a comment, but no response was received as of news time. The trial date for the 11-year-old is set to start on March 7.
