Two Texas men cited for alleged duck hunting violations

Enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries cited two individuals for alleged duck hunting violations.

CAMERON PARISH, La. (KLFY) – Enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries cited two individuals for alleged duck hunting violations.

Agents with LDWF were on patrol on the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge when they saw two men with five ducks on the bow of their boat. Agents stopped the vessel for a compliance check and found the men in possession of seven pintail ducks, five of which were intentionally hidden in the boat.

The daily limit for pintails is one pintail per licensed hunter, putting the subjects five over the daily bag limit. Agents seized the seven pintails and donated them to a local charity.

Agents cited Brandon Click, 44, and Philip Hatton, 45, both of Texas, were cited for taking over the limit of pintail ducks and intentional concealment of wildlife.

Intentional concealment of wildlife and taking over the limit of pintails carry up to a $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail for each offense. The men may also face civil restitution for the replacement value of the pintails.
