Lafayette airport opening new waiting area for pickups
The Lafayette Regional Airport has announced the opening of a new easy-access passenger pickup area for motorist.
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- The Lafayette Regional Airport has announced the opening of a new easy-access passenger pickup area for motorist.
LFT says the new Cell Phone Waiting Area will open at 2 p.m. on Tuesday Feb. 6, and will allow for a more convenient way to coordinate the pickup of passengers arriving at the airport. Due to federal regulations, motorist are not allowed to park in front of the terminal, expect for the brief process of passenger pickup of drop-off. The new Cell Phone Waiting Area will provide a place for motorist in parked vehicles to wait for passenger arrivals.
In addition to the new area, motorist may also park without a fee for the first 30 minutes in either the short-term or long term parking lots, or drive around until their passenger is ready for pickup.
LFT Executive Director Steven Picou says they hope the addition of the new area will allow for easier coordination of pickups.
“This new service from LFT means motorists have an additional option when picking up arriving passengers. They will now be able to wait and coordinate pickup with an arriving passenger on their cell phone,” said Picou.
The new Cell Phone Waiting Area is clearly marked and is located on Terminal Drive as you approach the terminal building. Passengers must always remain with their vehicle while in the Cell Phone Waiting Area.
