LOUISIANA (KLFY) -- The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will face off in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, with both teams having players with Louisiana roots.

The Super Bowl is not only one of the biggest sporting events, but one of the biggest events in general every year. The NFL's final game of the season draws eyes from all over the country and now a growing audience from the rest of the world as well. With Louisiana consistently ranking among states with the most NFL players, a player from Louisiana in the Super Bowl is almost always guaranteed. Here is a list of players from Louisiana playing in this years Super Bowl.

San Francisco 49ers

Elijah Mitchell, RB - UL - Erath, La.

Elijah Mitchell is the only player in this year's Super Bowl representing the Acadiana area. He attended Erath High School in Vermilion Parish, where his on-field performances earned him a spot in the Cajun's backfield. His four seasons for the Cajun's proved he was an NFL caliber player, and was drafted 49ers. In his rookie season, Mitchell broke the 49er's rookie rushing record. In the NFC Conference Championship against the Detroit Lions, Mitchell carried in the game deciding touchdown, putting the 49ers up two scores and completing their comeback.

Kansas City Chiefs

Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB - LSU - Baton Rouge, La.

The Baton Rouge native is set to make his third trip to the Super Bowl in four years with the Chiefs. Edwards-Helaire was apart of last years Chiefs team that won a Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, but did not appear in the game due to injury. The running back has become familiar with Championship games, as he was also a key player in LSU's 2019 National Championship team. The former Catholic High School running back will look to add another ring to his collection on Sunday.

L'Jarius Sneed , CB - La. Tech - Minden, La

Born in Minden, Louisiana, Sneed went on to play at Louisiana Tech University as a cornerback and free safety. Sneed was drafted by the Chiefs in the 2020 NFL Draft, and would be selected to the Pro Football Writers of America NFL All-Rookie Team for the 2020 season. He won the 2022 Super Bowl with the Chiefs last year, recording seven tackles and two pass deflections in the game. In AFC Championship against the Baltimore Ravens, Sneed made an important stop at the one yard line by forcing a fumble and preventing a crucial touchdown. Sneed missed the first night of media on Monday, due to the birth of his baby girl.

Justin Reid, Safety - Stanford - Prairieville, La.

The former Dutchtown High School and Stanford safety will make his second Super Bowl appearance, as he was also apart of the Chief's 2022 Super Bowl team. Reid recorded seven tackles in the Chiefs win over the Eagles. Reid will look to help shut down the 49er's wide receiver unit along side fellow Louisiana native, L'Jarius Sneed.

Neil Farrell, DL - LSU - Mobile, Ala.

Although not from Louisiana, Neil Farrell rounds out the list as an honorable mention for his connection to Louisiana through his time at LSU. Farell attended LSU from 2017-2022, having notably been apart of the 2019 National Championship team.
