Warm with scattered showers today, stronger storms possible tomorrow
A warm front is in the process of moving across the area today. This will lead to a warm day with temperatures reaching the mid-70s this afternoon. We'll keep mostly cloudy skies in the forecast as well. A few showers will be possible throughout the day, but most of the rain and storm activity today will remain across central parts of the state, to the north of the warm front. South winds will be in the 8-16 mph range.
Low pressure will develop across Texas tomorrow. This low pressure will move across the area tomorrow afternoon and evening. Scattered storms will work across the area tomorrow afternoon and evening. Some of these storms could be strong-to-severe, containing damaging winds and rotation. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has us hatched in for a Slight "Level 2 out of 5" risk of severe storms tomorrow. Storms are not expected to be widespread, however, with coverage of about 40%. The storms will end tomorrow night.
Beautiful weather through Mardi Gras with sunshine and highs in the 60s. A chilly start is expected for Mardi Gras day with readings in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
A slow warming trend is expected Wednesday and Thursday before rain chances increase again next Friday.
