OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- Three people face life imprisonment after being indicted on murder charges by a St. Landry Parish grand jury today for three unrelated incidents, according to St. Landry Parish District Attorney Chad Pitre.
Abraham Goodley, 18, was indicted for the second degree murder in connection with the death of John Q. Davis on Dec. 26. Davis had recently been released after serving eight years in prison when he was gunned down in his home and died of multiple gunshot wounds, Pitre said. Goodley will appear in court for arraignment on March 7.
Craig Moore, 49, was also indicted today for the second degree murder of Joseph Sylvester, Jr. This indictment stems from a shooting that occurred on Dec. 18 outside of Club Reels in Opelousas. Sylvester, Jr. died as the result of a single gunshot wound to the head. Moore will appear for arraignment on March 15.
Jacenta Lazare, 21, was indicted for second degree murder in connection with the Nov. 17 killing of Laquanda Guillory. Fifteen .40-caliber bullets struck Guillory and her vehicle as she arrived at 239 Dynasty Lane in Opelousas. According to the indictment, Lazare, armed with the fully loaded handgun, was waiting for Guillory’s arrival. Lazare is scheduled to appear in court on March 7 for arraignment.
Goodley, Moore and Lazare all face life imprisonment if found guilty as indicted, Pitre said.
