LOUISIANA (KLFY) -- Although they may not exist in the real-world, every fictional character has a story, and these characters stories just so happen to start in Louisiana.

Every fictional character has a origin story, no matter what type of story or fictional universe they belong to. Even though these characters do not exist in the real-world and belong to sometimes strange and unique worlds, sometimes they still come from real places. Here is a list of a few fictional characters with origins in Louisiana.

Gambit

Gambit, also known as Remy Etienne LeBeau, is a marvel comic super-hero most known for his association with the X-Men. He is part of the subspecies of humans called mutants, who are born with superhuman abilities. Gambit's powers include the ability to create, control and manipulate pure kinetic energy. He often displays this by charging up playing cards with energy and using them as explosives. Gambit's origins describe him as being born in New Orleans and of Cajun heritage. He's character was introduced in 1990, and has since then become one of the most popular X-Men members.

Monica Rambeau, aka Captain Marvel

Another Marvel comic superhero, Monica Rambeau, has been one of a few characters to don the title "Captain Marvel." Rambeau was born in New Orleans, where she eventually became a lieutenant in the New Orleans harbor patrol and operated as a cargo ship captain. While doing this, she was exposed to extra-dimensional energy and became capable of converting her body into energy. She later became a part of the Avengers, becoming the superhero group's first African-American heroine. Rambeau would even eventually lead the Avengers for a time.

Madea, a character created and portrayed by Tyler Perry, is an elderly African-American woman seen in various comedy movies, animations and television series. She is said to have been born in Greensburg, Louisiana and then raised in New Orleans. Perry, who is also from Louisiana, based the character off of his mother and aunt. In 2009, Entertainment Weekly listed Madea in it's end-of-the-decade, "best-of" list.

Will Graham

The protagonist of Thomas Harris' novel Red Dragon, Will Graham is the man responsible for capturing the cannibalistic serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Lecter, perhaps better known from the film The Silence of the Lambs and portrayed by Anthony Hopkins, met his match in Graham and was revealed as the "Chesapeake Ripper." Red Dragon is the only one of Harris' novels Graham is featured in, which takes place before the events of The Silence of the Lambs. Graham is described in the novel to have grown up poor in Louisiana, and eventually moved to New Orleans where he became a homicide detective. He is said to be intellectually gifted and has the ability to empathize with psychopaths, which helps determine their psyche. Graham's character is also featured in the Manhunter, Red Dragon (2002 film) and Hannibal (TV series).

Hazel Levesque

Part of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson universe, Hazel Levesque is a character featured many times in Riordan's novels, mainly in The Heroes of Olympus series. Levesque, one of the seven heroes of the Prophecy of Seven, is a fifteen-year-old Roman demigod and the daughter of Pluto (Hades). As the daughter of Pluto Levesque has many supernatural abilities, most notably being able to summon and manipulate precious gems and metals. Levesque was born and raised in New Orleans.

Bill Dauterive

A frequent character in the King of the Hill, Bill Dauterive is described as coming from an upper-class Cajun family in Louisiana. He is also said to speak fluent Cajun French. Dauterive was a muscular, confident athlete with long-flowing hair in his youth, much different to his overweight, balding and emotionally needy appearance depicted in the show. It is said Bill's divorce after his wife cheated on him led to the downward spiral his character displays throughout the series.
