Vermilion Parish Sheriff warns about recent vehicle burglaries
The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a number of vehicle burglaries in the Abbeville area.
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a number of vehicle burglaries in the Abbeville area.
According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, deputies received a call early Monday morning about a vehicle burglary in a subdivision located off Hwy. 694, south of Abbeville. An investigation found that two other vehicles were also burglarized, with purses being stolen. A truck, described as a silver 2016 Dodge Ram 4-door pick-up with the license plate C908570 was also reported stolen from another residence in the subdivision. The truck was last seen heading north on University Ave., through Carencro.
Video surveillance showed three subjects wearing masks and gloves, pulling on the door handles of vehicles parked in the driveways and rummaging through ones that were unlocked. One of the suspects can also be seen carrying a pistol with an extended magazine.
