SCOTT, La. (KLFY)-- A celebration where people can enjoy this spicy Cajun staple is returning to the Boudin Capital of the World this weekend, with music, arts and crafts, contests and vendors lined up for all.
People will get a chance to experience a taste of Louisiana cuisine and culture at the 11th Annual Scott Boudin Festival in the city "Where the West Begins and Hospitality Never Ends”, taking place April 5, 6, and 7. This annual event has built its way up from its humble beginnings as an upstart festival, now gaining regional and statewide recognition for its family-friendly atmosphere and South Louisiana musical talent.
Did you know more than 2 million pounds of boudin are sold each year by the participating food vendors who have contributed to making this festival what it is?
With the help of local boudin businesses like Don's Specialty Meats, The Best Stop Supermarket, Billy's Boudin, Menard's Grocery, Nunu's Grocery and Kartchner's, Scott was officially declared the “Boudin Capital of the World'' by the Louisiana Legislature in 2012. Festival attendees can expect to see flavorful boudin prepared in various forms, along with other foods that have put Louisiana on the map.
Along with an array of state-famous cuisines, patrons can enjoy amusement rides, fireworks, various musical performances and 50 Scott vendors selling hand-crafted and locally made products. Festival goers can expect to see PAW Patrol characters, a dunking booth, bungee jumping on Sunday, a dance floor and large bandstand, mass on Sunday and huge beer and daiquiri booths.
Cajun, rock and country music artists as well as cover bands will be jamming out, even when the sun goes down.

The Scott Boudin Festival Association collaborates with the city of Scott staff, Scott Police Department, Scott Volunteer Fire Department, sponsors, musicians, vendors and volunteers to bring this annual event to life.
“It’s really exciting,” Sadie Hebert, Miss Scott Boudin Festival XI said. “I’m very blessed to be here and get to work with the community board and festival, all weekend long and all year long.”
Scott Mayor Jan-Scott Richard is expecting almost 30,000 people to come partake in the festival, and is confident in the safety of those attending given the event will take place right in front of the City Hall and emergency services building.
“Parents can enjoy the music, and kids can enjoy the carnival rides,” Richard said. “Those aspects make it family friendly, and then of course when you have great weather like this, it’s a great opportunity and a good recipe for a good weekend.”
Is transportation an issue? Trolleys will be available to bring people to the festival grounds. Seating and facilities will also be available.
The entrance fees for the festival are below:
Friday, April 5, $5.00
