Amelia man convicted of rape, sexual battery and video voyeurism
Vandercook's sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 9 at 10 a.m.
AMELIA, La. (KLFY)-- After a three-day trial, an Amelia man was convicted for multiple rape and sexual battery charges, according to 16th Judicial District Attorney Bo Duhé.
A St. Mary Parish jury found John Vandercook guilty of two counts of first-degree rape, five counts of sexual battery and four counts of video voyeurism of a child under the age of seventeen.
In 2021, authorities learned Vandercook had confessed to inappropriate sexual contact with a juvenile. St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office deputies obtained evidence, including Vandercook's statements, during their investigation.
Vandercook's sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 9 at 10 a.m.
