OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY)-- Eight people were arrested after a response to an assault call led to the discovery of firearms and drugs in Opelousas Saturday.
Around 1:14 p.m., the Opelousas Police Department was sent to the 1700 block of Ross Street in reference to an aggravated assault with a firearm complaint. After authorities arrived and investigated, they came to the conclusion that a male suspect had pointed a firearm at a female victim before going to a neighboring home and passing the firearm to another man.
Police engaged with eight men at the home, who all said they did not know about the incident. After obtaining and executing a search warrant for 1729 Ross Street, five handguns, one Draco firearm, several grams of marijuana, digital scales, plastic bags, a drum magazine and a bottle of promethazine was discovered, according to OPD.
