LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- In response to the recent and devastating flooding in the Texas Hill Country, Catholic Charities of Acadiana and KLFY will host a one-day, item-specific supply drive on Wednesday, July 16, to collect essential relief items for flood survivors.
The drive will take place from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Catholic Charities of Acadiana Regional Disaster Response Warehouse, located at 403 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy, Scott, LA 70507.
Catholic Charities of Acadiana will be collecting the following urgently needed items to assist in the recovery efforts:
Large black trash bags
Laundry detergent
Paper towels
Cleaning supplies (All purpose cleaner, mops, brooms, and moldicide)
While we are deeply grateful for the generosity of our community, we kindly ask donors to focus exclusively on the items listed above. This ensures we meet the specific needs identified by our partner agencies serving the impacted communities in Texas
At the conclusion of the drive, Catholic Charities of Acadiana will transport all collected donations to partnering Catholic Charities agencies actively responding in the affected region.
“We’ve all seen the heartbreaking images coming out of the Texas Hill Country,” said Ben Broussard, Chief of External Affairs of Catholic Charities of Acadiana. “As neighbors, we are called to respond when others are hurting. This supply drive is a powerful way for our community to offer real support, rooted in care and compassion.”
Catholic Charities of Acadiana exists to care for the sacred gift of all human life, especially the most vulnerable. Since 1973, the organization has operated programs throughout Acadiana addressing homelessness, hunger, poverty, and crisis situations—living out the Gospel call to perform the corporal works of mercy: feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, offering hospitality to the homeless, caring for the sick, visiting the imprisoned, and burying the dead
