Poirier, Judice both make weight for UFC 318 bouts
NEW ORLEANS, La. (KLFY) -- We are one step closer to fight night.
Friday morning at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, both "Crispy" Carli Judice and "The Diamond" Dustin Poirier weighed in for their UFC 318 bouts.
Judice came in at 125 lbs. for her flyweight bout against Nicolle Caliari. Caliri successfully cut weight and weighs a pound more than Judice at 126.
Meanwhile, Poirier comes in at 156 lbs. for his final fight, against Max Holloway for the BMF title. Holloway is a pound lighter than Poirier at 155.
Poirier said he is "really, really focused" on the fight during Wednesday's UFC 318 media day.
"I'm 90-something days completely sober. No alcohol, no marijuana," Poirier said. "I don't like the diet fad talk, like I hate tossing around keto, carnivore, and stuff like that. But for probably four months, five months, I've been eating just, I guess, kind of like a carnivore, just meat and berries, little vegetables here and there, and dude, I'm in the best shape. This is the lightest I've ever shown up to fight week. Incredible. So, yeah, I did everything right."
Poirier said he expects another slugfest against Holloway, but this third showdown in the trilogy will be different because of their growth as fighters.
"This is a trilogy spanning 13 years, and we've met at different points," Poirier said. "We were different fighters, different men. So each fight has been so, so different. You know, even looking back to the last fight with him, there's little takeaways. But I think this is a whole different thing. So it's exciting, man."
Judice will open up Saturday's card on the UFC Fight Pass prelims, while Poirier will end the night in the main event.
