LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Students at Lafayette High School returned to classes today on a brand new campus, greeted by LPSS Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr.
The new Lafayette High School campus is a state-of-the-art facility, described by Superintendent Touchet as a three-story building that could fit two Costcos within its 330,000-square-foot space.
"This is for the students and more importantly I'm thankful to the taxpayers of Lafayette Parish for providing the dollars to do something like this," Touchet stated.
The principal of Lafayette High School noted that everyone is learning the building together, providing a unique opportunity to grow as a school from day one.
Superintendent Touchet emphasized that the design of the new school is intended to inspire students to want to be in school.
"This is a great day here in Lafayette Parish. It's something which students are no doubt going to enjoy. It's something students moving forward are always going to enjoy as far as the facility is concerned," Touchet said.
The new facility is expected to enhance the educational experience with its innovative design and ample space.
