LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Seven-year-old Ana, from Scott, will be granted her Make-A-Wish opportunity.

Ana’s unforgettable day is part of Make-A-Wish’s Summer of Wishes campaign, a season dedicated to granting wishes to children with critical illnesses. The Summer of Wishes campaign highlights children like Ana, facing critical diseases.

On Aug. 22, Ana will receive a send-off party to celebrate her upcoming trip to the Aulani Resort in Hawaii. This celebration in her honor will be held at Atmos Energy’s office at 1818 Eraste Landry Road in Lafayette.

During the celebration, Ana will also be presented with gifts and words of encouragement from Atmos Energy employees from around the state of Louisiana says president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana, Shelly Millwee.

“We know that wishes have the wonderful power to unite communities with hope and joy, and we are seeing that through Ana’s wish” said Millwee. “This year, with the support of our community partners, we have granted 100 wishes for Louisiana children. We are grateful to Atmos Energy and their employees for making Ana’s send-off a memorable experience for her and her family; while helping us address the need we have in this key territory of our chapter.”

The Summer of Wishes campaign highlights the journeys of children like Ana. More than 1,056 children are currently waiting for their wishes to be granted across the chapter’s territory – each one facing the trials of a critical illness.
