Monroe man arrested in connection with 2023 double homicide
MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) -- A Monroe man has been arrested in connection with a 2023 double murder, authorities said.
Devin Fenroy was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of domestic abuse battery.
On June 5, 2023, Monroe Police were called to a shooting on Jackson Street. Once authorities arrived at the scene, they located three male victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
According to court documents, Henry Walker was pronounced dead at the scene and Kehari Fletcher was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The driver of a white GMC Yukon, Fenroy, was taken to a local hospital.
Authorities located a white Mercury Grand Marquis and learned that the vehicle belonged to Walker. During the investigation, detectives learned that Fenroy was sitting in the driver's seat of the Yukon, and Fletcher and Walker were sitting in the passenger seats of the vehicle. Authorities located nearly a pound of marijuana in the vehicle.
According to authorities, they also located 11 spent shell casings and two bullet projectiles inside the GMC Yukon, and a Taurus G3 and a Taurus PT111 outside of the vehicle. A bullet recovered from one of the victims during an autopsy was later matched to the Taurus G3.
The firearms, spent shell casings, and bullets were sent to the North Louisiana Crime Lab for examination. Detectives were advised that two shots were fired from the Taurus G3 and approximately 7 shots were fired from the Taurus PT111.
On June 7, 2023, detectives took a statement from Fenroy and learned that he and his cousin, Fletcher, were going to pick up Fletcher's backpack from someone and were ambushed. According to authorities, Fenroy allegedly requested to end the interview after making the statement.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the phones of the three individuals. As officials searched through text messages, they observed dialogue about a drug deal between Walker and Fenroy.
According to authorities, Fenroy tested positive for gunshot residue. Authorities also learned that Fletcher died from a gunshot that came from the driver's area of the Yukon.
Fenroy has been booked into the Ouachita Parish jail. His bond was set at $1,220,000.
