Lafayette teen arrested following West Baton Rouge burglary spree
BATON ROUGE, La. (KLFY) -- A Lafayette teen and three individuals were arrested following a series of vehicle burglaries in West Baton Rouge that occurred early Thursday morning, deputies said.
Deputies said they responded to 12 burglary complaints in the area between Rosedale Road and U.S. 190 in Baton Rouge. At least 15 firearms, along with money, a laptop, a passport, and other personal belongings, were stolen from unlocked vehicles.
During the investigation, detectives identified a suspect vehicle later located in Lafayette Parish. As a result, deputies arrested Samaya Charles, 17, of Lafayette.
A conducted a search of Charles’ residence and vehicle led to the recovery of one firearm stolen from West Baton Rouge, as well as clothing and masks allegedly consistent with video surveillance from the burglaries, deputies reported.
According to deputies, Charles was transported to the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center and booked on the following charges: for 10 counts of principal to aggravated burglary, one count of obstruction of justice and two counts of principal to simple burglary.
Early this morning, executed a search at a residence in Breaux Bridge. Three additional suspects were taken into custody and 10 firearms were recovered. Of these 10 firearms, three were reported stolen from Vermilion Parish, St. Martin Parish, and West Baton Rouge Parish, which had been stolen the night before.

Qualylon Mouton, 17:
- 10 counts –of aggravated burglary;
- two counts of simple burglary.
Juvenile, 16:
- 10 counts of aggravated burglary
- two counts of simple burglary.
Juvenile, 15
- 10 counts of aggravated burglary
- two counts of simple burglary.
Mouton was Booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center. The two teens were booked into a juvenile detention facility.
This investigation remains active, and additional arrests are expected, deputies said.
