Hot temperatures and sunny days

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - It will be a warm and humid night across Acadiana as temperatures settle in the 70s with mostly clear conditions. Sunday begins with plentiful sunshine. Temperatures warm quickly, reaching 90 by lunchtime and the mid 90s by the afternoon. Sun and clouds will mix with the potential for one or two isolated showers, though most areas will remain rain-free.

We are monitoring a tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic that has a medium chance of development over the next week as it moves westward. There is plenty of time to keep a watch on it before it would ever affect land areas, so we will just monitor for now. Also, a sneaky area of low pressure could form along the Southeast coast by Monday and needs to be watched in case it does try to turn tropical. While not officially being monitored by the National Hurricane Center, we will keep watch in case things change in the next day or so. Regardless, squally weather and rough surf can be expected along the South and North Carolina coastlines.

Locally, high pressure builds overhead leading to low rain chances through the next week. We will bake under mostly sunny skies each afternoon and high humidity will make it fairly uncomfortable at times. High temperatures reach the mid 90s through next weekend. Outside of a stray shower, our best rain chance looks to hold off until the end of the week. Nice, fall temperatures are no where in sight anytime soon.
