More summer heat and humidity with little relief
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - After a hot and humid Sunday with plentiful sunshine, temperatures in the 90s, and a few showers, quiet weather returns to Acadiana this evening. Skies clear of most cloud cover and temperatures settle in the 70s. Monday will start out warm and humid with sunny skies. By the afternoon, clouds will develop along with one or two showers. Temperatures reach the lower 90s thanks to the sea breeze which kicks in later in the day.
In the tropics, we're monitoring a tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic that is starting to organize. Over the next week, it has a high chance of developing into a tropical system as it moves westward. For now, it is just something to monitor as it heads through the Atlantic and nothing that is a concern at this time.
Locally, our weather continues to be hot and humid each day with temperatures in the 90s and an isolated rain chance each afternoon. Little change is expected through the next week as the stagnant pattern continues with high pressure overhead.
