Week two of the trial of former Lafayette Assistant District Attorney Gary Haynes
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Today started week two of the trial of former Lafayette Assistant District Attorney Gary Haynes on federal charges of bribery and conspiracy.
Haynes is accused of conspiring with Dusty Guidry, Leonard Franques and others to solicit bribes and kickbacks while Haynes was an assistant district attorney at the 15th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Seven new witnesses testified today, including an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation who specializes in money laundering.
The witness went on to explain ways one can go about concealing money and pointed out how the evidence shows that Hayes was supposed to receive a truck as part of the payback that he was doing with the vendors of the pretrial diversion program.
The witness said this could possibly be a way for money to be concealed due to the money being unable to be traced back.
