Man charged with repeatedly trespassing inside Sulphur High School, drug possession
SULPHUR, La. (KLFY) -- A man has been arrested on charges related to entering Sulphur High School without permission, as well as drug and other charges, authorities said.
Dustin J. Bevil, 36, of Sulphur, is charged with five counts of unauthorized entry of a place of business, two counts of possession of Schedule II drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also had a probation violation as well as a warrant for contempt of court.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated reports of incidents at the school that occurred on Aug. 16-17 and Sept. 7-8. The suspect was observed on surveillance video inside the school’s athletic buildings, specifically in Building 6 and the boys gym. In each case the suspect gained entry through an unknown door, with no signs of forced entry, authorities said. In one instance he was observed to be riding a black electric-style scooter with a seat and baskets on the rear.
Officials said there are no confirmed reports of any items being stolen.
CPSO received a tip Tuesday that Bevil may have been the suspect. Detectives were able to locate him and, after questioning, he was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center, authorities said.
Bevil's bond was initially set at $300,000. His bond for the drug charges is still pending.
