Lafayette woman killed in pedestrian hit-and-run
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A Lafayette woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver while walking across University Avenue Wednesday night, authorities said.
The crash claimed the life of Jasmine Lasalle, 34, of Lafayette.
Lafayette Police responded at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 900 block of N. University Avenue to a report of a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
Investigators said Lasalle was crossing the street when she was hit by a vehicle, which then fled the scene. Lasalle died at the hospital form her injuries.
State Police went to the registered address for the vehicle and located the vehicle and the alleged driver, Travis Guillot, 53, of Arnaudville.
Guillot was booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail and charged with felony hit and run and illegal obscuring of windshield or windows.
This crash remains under investigation.
