Suspect in pharmacy burglary arrested in joint investigation
EVANGELINE PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- Alexandria man arrested in connection with a pharmacy burglary in Pine Prairie, deputies said.
Kevin McKinney of Alexandria was arrested and charged with simple burglary of the pharmacy, criminal damage to property, and criminal trespassing.
According to deputies, they dispatched to Fuselier's Pharmacy in Pine Prairie for an alarm activation which occurred Jan. 20. When deputies arrived, they noticed the north side door was damaged, where someone had gained entry.
During the investigation, it was discovered that a large amount of prescription pain pills had been taken and camera footage of an unknown male subject committing the burglary, deputies said.
Deputies said they were contacted by the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office who believed the person in the video was McKinney. Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office was able to make an arrest of McKinney for a pharmacy burglary in Lecompte.
Evangeline Parish Sheriff's deputies worked alongside Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office deputies and were able obtain evidence to get an arrest warrant for McKinney in connection with with the Fuselier's Pharmacy burglary.
McKinney is being held in the Rapides Parish jail, and a detainer was put on him for the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office.
His bond is set at $55,000. This case is still pending, and more charges are possible, deputies said.
