Ville Platte gains state funds for new parks and businesses
VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY)-Ville Platte is making significant strides in economic development by upgrading city parks and attracting new businesses.
Ville Platte Mayor Ryan Leday Williams said the improvements are part of a broader initiative to boost the local economy and provide better amenities for residents. With help from state legislators, the city has secured over $1.5 million to go towards improving and adding infrastructure.
"We had approximately two million dollars from the state that had been allocated to the city I think since like 17 or 18, and being that we're a couple of years in, I didn't want to lose that funding," Williams said.
New playground equipment and splash pads were installed at three parks, with new benches and pavilions added at Heritage Garden Park.
"We have Hargrove Park which we're at now, we have Northside Park, we have Gloria Frank Hope Park, and we have the Heritage Garden Park, it was a project by Louisiana Love Outdoors that was completed a few months ago, and people utilize that place to their lunch break to grab a breath of fresh air," Williams said.
New softball fields, flag football fields, and soccer fields are also under construction in Hargrove Park, which is scheduled to be completed next summer. Williams said a new business, Tractor Supply, will be opened, with more businesses on the way.
"We were successful to get Tractor Supply, we got Waffle House coming, we have Southwest Louisiana Credit Union that's coming," Williams said.
Williams said Ville Platte is looking ahead to continued growth.
"I want to thank the people of Ville Platte, I want to thank my council members and my support and staff because we grind daily and it's so much more that we'll have coming to Ville Platte," Williams added.
With these developments, Ville Platte is looking to offer enhanced recreational facilities and attract new businesses to the area.
