Hot start to Fall but a cold front is on the way to Acadiana

The first day of Fall will be hot and humid in Acadiana with slightly above normal temperatures. Highs today will near 90° with a heat index approaching the mid to upper 90s. Similar to yesterday, scattered showers and storms are possible during the afternoon as rain chances increase to 40%. A few storms could contain heavy rains, frequent lightning, and strong winds.

A modest cold front is set to move through Acadiana late Wednesday into Thursday morning. Storms and rain will be more widespread within our area and there could be a risk for severe weather too. Cooler and less humid air arrives Friday and for the weekend.
