State Fire Marshal: Woman, 76, died in Saturday night St. Martinville fire
ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KLFY) -- A fire in St. Martinville Saturday night claimed the life of a 76-year-old woman, fire officials said.
According to a news release from the State Fire Marshal's Office, the St. Martinville Fire Department responded to the fire at approximately 8 p.m. Saturday, in the 100 block of West Hamilton Street.
The name of the victim was not released.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials said.
According to the State Fire Marshal's Office this year, 64 people have died in 48 residential fires so far. For the same time in 2024, 49 people died in residential fires. So, Louisiana is up 15 fatalities for the same time.
