ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY) -- The City of Abbeville will host the opening day of the Grand Réveil Acadien 2025 on Saturday, Oct. 11, 10 AM to 4 PM in Magdalen Square.

The event is free to attend and aims to celebrate the Acadian culture and heritage of Vermilion Parish through a range of community-centered activities.

The program will begin with opening ceremonies at 10 AM followed by a day filled with cultural exhibits, music performances, food samples and demonstrations.

Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to explore booths that highlight Vermilion Parish's festivals, local attractions and historical information. Exhibits will also be available inside the Abbeville Cultural Center from 10:30 AM to 3 PM.

Live entertainment is scheduled across three main performances. From 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, students from Vermilion Parish's Lache Pas and French immersion programs will perform Cajun French songs. The Jourdan Thibodeaux Trio is set to take the stage from 11:45 AM to 1:45 PM, followed by a performance by Amis du Teche from 2 PM to 4 PM.

Food and cultural demonstrations will also be featured prominently. Demonstrations focusing on cracklins, agriculture and local festivals. Seafood gumbo samples will be available at and lunch offered for purchase at noon.
