Children’s Wagon Parade to celebrate Louisiana’s cattle industry legacy
ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY) – The Louisiana Cattle Festival will feature a Children’s Wagon Parade beginning at 10 AM, Saturday Oct. 4.
This year’s theme, “From Dairy Roots to Cattle Legacy,” underscores the festival’s evolution over its 75-year history. Initially established to recognize local dairy farmers, the festival now celebrates the broader cattle industry’s significance throughout Louisiana.
The festival says that this event aims to honor the agricultural legacy of the region with a special emphasis on youth participation and community heritage. By engaging the younger generation in these celebrations, the festival aims to reinforce a shared appreciation for Louisiana’s rural heritage and community identity.
Participants are encouraged to decorate wagons, bicycles, or non-motorized scooters to reflect the history and culture of cattle farming in the region. Children may also wear costumes inspired by farming life, cowboys, or personal interpretations of the cattle industry.
However, parade organizers have emphasized that no soft candy throws will be allowed during the procession.
Check-in for the event will take place from 10 to 10:30 AM at the gazebo in Magdalen Square. The parade is scheduled to begin promptly at 10:30 AM, traveling down Concord Street and concluding in front of the Kids Corral.
Participation is open to all children, and walking is permitted as an alternative to using a vehicle. Registration must be completed in advance through the provided link.
For more information or to register, participants can access the registration form on Facebook at Louisiana Cattle Festival or contact them through their website https://louisianacattlefestival.org/.
