LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Lafayette’s Parks, Arts, Recreation & Culture Department invites the public to join in a community celebration at the Pink Picnic with PARC.

The event recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month will take place on Friday, Oct. 17 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Girard Park Pavilion, 500 Girard Park Drive.

The Pink Picnic is a moment to honor survivors, raise awareness and support those affected by breast cancer. Community members of all ages are encouraged to wear pink, bring their favorite picnic snacks and enjoy food, dancing and wellness resources in a relaxed and uplifting atmosphere.

The Lafayette City Marshal’s Office will be grilling 200 free burgers (first-come, first-served) for attendees. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite picnic snacks, sides, or lunches to enjoy in the park.

An outdoor dance class led by Corey “Spoken Red” will get the crowd moving and celebrating together.

Attendees are asked to show support by wearing pink attire, and local health and wellness organizations will provide valuable information and resources for attendees.

This event is free and open to the public. Families, friends, and community members are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and their best dance moves for an afternoon of connection and celebration.
