OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- A traffic stop in Opelousas led to an arrest and the seizure large amounts of drugs and guns, authorities said.
Jared Jarrell Anderson, 36, of Opelousas is charged with the following:
- Possession with intent to distribute marijuana (3 counts)
- Possession with intent to distribute cocaine (2 counts)
- Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses
- Possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs (24 counts)

St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives were patrolling the area of Pavy Road north of Opelousas when they noticed a 2015 Kia Optima with illegal window tint and a burnt right tail lamp, officials said.
During the resulting traffic stop, the driver was recognized from a previous narcotics arrest as Anderson. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately .25 lbs. of marijuana and approximately 1.25 grams of suspected cocaine, authorities said.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said search warrants were obtained for three residences in and around Opelousas as a result of the stop.
"These search warrants lead to the seizure of 25 firearms, 2 of which are converted machine guns, another is a suppressed .308 rifle and one with an obliterated serial number," Guidroz said. "A total of 4 of these weapons are reported stolen from 4 different agencies."
In addition, just over one pound of suspected marijuana was seized, along with $4,000 in cash.
Anderson is being held in the St. Landry Parish jail. Bond details were not released.
