St. Landry Parish adjudicates Carrington Place Road for repairs
ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- Residents of Carrington Place in St. Landry Parish can expect road repairs soon, as the parish has adjudicated portions of the road, allowing for much-needed improvements.
The road conditions on Carrington Place have been a significant issue, causing damage to vehicles and hindering emergency services. Parish President Jessie Bellard announced that the road is now under parish jurisdiction, enabling repairs to address these problems.
"The road itself was never on the tax roll," said Bellard. "Therefore, it just becomes part of adjudication through the adjudicated property process."
The repairs will focus on the north end of Carrington Place, which is now public property, as the south end remains privately owned by homeowners. This means only the most damaged sections can be addressed.
Bellard outlined plans to improve the road by pulling the shoulders and building it up with materials to facilitate better passage for residents.
Additionally, a new access point is planned to connect Carrington Place to Sidney Charles Road, which will involve removing a tree line to create an opening. Bellard mentioned plans to install driveways to reduce the distance residents need to travel, enhancing accessibility.
"I can rest better knowing we're going to fix the road for them and bring it back into the system," said Bellard. "In this particular case we might be able to give them some help, and hopefully they can get some better services down that road."
A meeting with Carrington Place residents is scheduled for Oct. 21 to discuss these changes and gather community input.
