Abbeville man arrested in connection with Friday shooting in Duson
DUSON, La. (KLFY) --Joel James Cessac, 42, of Abbeville according to Lafayette Parish Sherriff's Office was involved in the shooting in the 100 block of Stoneburg Drive.
He is being charged with:
- Obstruction of Justice
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies
Upon arrival, deputies determined Cessac was involved in a physical altercation with the victim. During the physical altercation, Cessac produced a firearm and shot the victim. After shooting the victim, Cessac fled the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital for non-life threating injuries.
"So, this occurred in the unincorporated areas of Duson in the early morning hours on Friday, Oct. 17," said Staff Sergeant Chris Cormier. "During that time, Mr. Zack produced a firearm and shot the other party. He then fled the area and was later apprehended in Abbeville."
Cessac was located in Abbeville, where he was taken into custody.
This investigation remains ongoing and no additional information is being released at this time.
