Gueydan High school Friday football game canceled
GUEYDAN, La. (KLFY) -- If you were planning on going to the Gueydan High School football game Friday night, you'll want to make other plans.
The Bears' scheduled game against Lafayette Westminster Christian has been canceled "out of concern for the health of the student athletes," according to a post on the school's Facebook page. The exact nature of the concern was not released.
"The decision came to after careful consideration of the players," the post read. "The situation may be disappointing, but the safety of Gueydan High School's players is top priority."
Gueydan's game Oct. 31 against Vermilion Catholic will go on as scheduled, the post said.
"We look forward to continuing our season next week against VC and appreciate your continued support of our students and athletic program," the post read.
