Two people arrested after Tuesday night high-speed chase in Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A high-speed chase after a traffic stop in Lafayette resulted in two arrests, authorities said.
Deniah Boutte, 18, was charged with aggravated flight from an officer and reckless driving, and on outstanding warrants for principal to assault by drive-by shooting and principal to illegal use of weapons.
Clifford Robinson, 25, was charged with felon in possession of a firearm and possession of drugs.
A Lafayette Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding just after 11 p.m. Tuesday, when the driver immediately fled the traffic stop, leading officers on a pursuit. Police said spike strips were deployed to bring the vehicle to a halt in the 1100 block of NE Evangeline Thruway.
No one was injured during the incident, authorities said.
Boutte is being held in the Lafayette Parish jail on a total bond of $90,000. Robinson was released on $30,000 bond.
