Church Point Halloween parade canceled due to expected rain
CHURCH POINT, La. (KLFY) -- The spooky season will be a little less festive in Church Point, thanks to Mother Nature.
The town's Halloween Parade, scheduled for Saturday, has been canceled due to rain expected in the area, according to Church Point Police.
"After careful consideration and looking at numerous weather reports of consistent rainfall Saturday the Church Point Police Department Halloween Parade has to be canceled," the department said in a Facebook post. "I am so sorry this has to be done because we work hard each year to put this on for the kids in the community."
According to KLFY Meteorologist Chris Cozart, showers and storms will move into Acadiana late Saturday morning and could last all the way through Sunday morning. Much of Acadiana will receive 1 to 3 inches of rain with isolated higher amounts over 4 inches.
Also, there is a low risk for severe weather as a few storms could produce damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, and large hail.
